RULE XIX - HUNTER BREEDING FUTURITY

PART I - MHSA HUNTER BREEDING FUTURITIES

SECTION 1. Class Description. The Futurity is a Hunter Breeding Show
to be organized and held annually by the MHSA Hunter Breeding Committee.
It is comprised of yearlings produced the previous year, all of whom were
nominated in-utero (i.e., nominations are made when the mare is in foal with
the prospective entry). Futurity nominations serve to validate the faith the
breeder has in what he is producing.
The purpose of the Futurity classes is to exhibit yearlings to be judged according
to the hunter breeding standard and to promote quality hunter breeding.

SECTION 2. Rules.
(a) Owners of entries must be members of MHSA and will be responsible for
payments. Entries need not be recorded with the Association. Winners of
the Futurity will not count for MHSA High Score Awards.
(b) Each year the nomination forms will be mailed through the MHSA Newsletter
to the members. Additional forms may be obtained from the MHSA website
(www.mdhsa.org) or the Hunter Breeding Committee. The nomination form
is for an in-foal broodmare whose in-utero foal is nominated at that time for
the yearling Futurity. There will be nomination forms for yearlings. An
owner may nominate as many entries as he wishes.
(c) Once the initial nomination is received, the Futurity secretary will mail
subsequent notices of payment deadlines. There will be separate payment
notices of sent for eligible yearlings with the due date for each payment
and the amount due indicated. (See Chart A)
(d) Eligibility and any previous payments are automatically forfeited if payment
is not postmarked prior to or on the due date. A 10 day grace period will be
extended for each payment date, except for the final payment due.
Payments sent during the grace period are to be double the amount due at
that time. If one payment is missed, a nominee may be reinstated into the
Futurity by making a double payment of the one missed. A single payment
of $100 can be made to nominate, or payments can be made according to
the payment schedule to total $135. No payments will be accepted after
the final payment is due on Futurity.
(e) No substitutions or supplementary entries can be accepted.
(f) In the event a nominated entry is sold, the entry remains eligible. It is the
responsibility of the buyer to notify the MHSA as to the new ownership.
The new owner must be a MHSA member prior to the next payment, and is
responsible for all remaining payments.
MHSA 2007 Rule XIX - 87
(g) Payments are non-refundable except if the Futurity is cancelled, in which
case all monies will be refunded.
(h) Payments, less the amount required for operating expenses, go into the
